The Home of the Stew – Warm Nutritious Food to All Jews

The Jewish community in Chernivtsi cares for its members in need and operates a kitchen that welcomes them and provides them with warm and nutritious meals all year long

Unfortunately, hundreds and thousands of Jews around Ukraine, especially on the western side of the country, suffer from poverty. Many of them are elderly, holocaust survivors, disabled or ill. Among them, there are also families in need, single-parent families, or families where the parents are unemployed and struggle with providing for their family.

The community invests extensive efforts in standing by its suppressed brothers and provides them with delicious, healthy, nutritious, and Mehadrin Kosher food through a communal kitchen that operates in the community center. The elderly and those in need who are able to come to the kitchen enjoy the meal in the dining room while those who are unable to come - usually due to an illness - receive the meal at their doorstep. The kitchen provides food for over 150 people on a daily basis.

The ability of Beit Chabad and the Jewish community to provide the food is conditioned upon the donations it manages to recruit. Due to the lack of government funding, the kindness of people all around the world determines the number of dishes the kitchen will be able to provide to the community members in need.
