Communal Activities During Holidays and Special Days – Everyone is Invited!

The prayers, the holiday meal, the lectures, and the activities for children turn every holiday in Chernivtsi into a unique experience shared with hundreds of members of the Jewish community and tourists.

Jewish holidays and celebration days receive a very special place in the Chernivtsi Jewish community. The community invests all its efforts into making the Mitzvot of the holidays accessible to the members of the Jewish community in the city in order to provide them with a spiritual Jewish experience that will accompany them throughout the year.

The festive joyful prayers filled with emotions, rich holiday feasts with delicious high-quality holiday dishes, and Torah lessons leading up to and during the holiday, provide the event with a deep spiritual meaning. The activities offered to the children and teenagers, according to their age, as well as many other aspects - turn the holidays in the city of Chernivtsi into highly popular activities among a high number of participants.

Each holiday is of course characterized by its proper traditions and Mitzvot. The empowering prayers of the Horrible Days; the joy and dances of Sukkot and Simchat Torah; lighting up the Hanukiah during Hanukkah; reading the Megillah, sending gift baskets and the “Drunken Feast” of Purim; the Matzot and Passover Eve (Leil HaSeder); the cheese and special dairy dishes as well as the Ten Commandments during Shavuot; the wait for the Geulah and Halachot of the Temple during the three weeks; the Selihot and preparations for the New Years in Elul; and memorial days, Hasidic events and various celebrations throughout the year.
